We at Doon Animal Welfare firmly believe that “Earth is common for all; every being has the right to live.”. Unfortunately, only a few people care for the so-called ‘useless,’ ‘discarded,’ and ‘abandoned’ cows and buffaloes. That’s why we have taken it upon ourselves to raise our voices and stand up for these helpless animals. Currently operating in Dehradun, the capital of Uttarakhand (DEVBHOOMI), we provide shelter and care for over 2,000 animals, including bulls, calves, buffaloes, dogs, mules, cats, and rabbits. As we continue our mission, we aim to expand our capacity to accommodate even more animals in need. To do this, we need your support to feed these animals and create a healthy, peaceful environment for them on our expansive 8-acre sanctuary. Together, we can make a difference in their lives.

Ganesh Chaturthi is one of India’s most beloved festivals, celebrating Lord Ganesha, the remover of obstacles and the deity of wisdom, prosperity, and new beginnings. This sacred festival, observed with great devotion across the country, is an opportune time to reflect on our duties towards all living beings, especially animals that are often neglected or mistreated.

The Condition of Animals in India:

In India, animals, particularly stray dogs, cats, and cows, face numerous challenges. Many suffer from malnutrition, injuries, diseases, and lack of shelter. Sacred cows, or Gaumata, hold a special place in Hindu culture, but they too are often found wandering the streets in distress, scavenging for food, and suffering from various ailments.
  • Stray Animals: India has millions of stray dogs and cats, many of whom live in harsh conditions without adequate food, water, or medical care.
  • Cattle Crisis: Despite their sacred status, many cows are abandoned by their owners, leading to a life of hardship on the streets. They often ingest plastic waste, suffer from untreated injuries, and face harsh weather conditions.
Ganesh Chaturthi is a festival that emphasizes compassion, kindness, and the removal of obstacles. What better way to honor Lord Ganesha than by extending our care to the animals that share our world?

“Because of their age, it’s important for us to feed them nutritious food regularly. They also need regular medication. But all of this is difficult for us to afford without your help. These two essentials can make all the difference to these bulls.”

This year, Doon Animal Welfare Dehradun is launching a special initiative during Ganesh Chaturthi to provide sanctuary, food, and medical care to stray animals and Gaumata. Your donations will directly help in:

  • Rescuing and treating injured and sick animals.
  • Providing nutritious food and clean water to stray animals.
  • Creating safe shelters for abandoned cows and other animals.
  • Conducting awareness campaigns on the humane treatment of animals.

This Ganesh Chaturthi, Transform The Lives Of Abused And Neglected Animals

Save those voiceless animals

No one does anything about the fact that the calves are taken away from their mother’s minutes after birth and left to starve. The ones, who manage to survive despite lack of proper mother’s love and milk, are exploited for more milk, and the ones who don’t, are slaughtered and sold off. These calves are not even allowed to go around their mother after their birth. Cows are highly familial beings and have strong family bonds, but the dairy industry denies these animals any interaction with their families. In fact, a lot of cows die in grief of being separated from their calves. The calves are denied their birth right and are instead fed commercially produced milk. Cow’s milk in fact reaches every corner of the world, but isn’t given to its rightful owners- the calves.

Hence let us come forward to help those animals and let them live their life in a peaceful and healthy environment.

If we hadn’t rescued them, they would have died a painful death. I can never understand how anyone could be so cruel to these animals.”

How You Can Help:

Donate Now: Your generous contributions can make a significant impact. No donation is too small—every bit helps in providing a better life for these animals.

  • $50 can provide a day’s worth of food for a stray dog or cat.
  • $100 can help in the construction of a safe shelter for abandoned cows.
  • $150 can cover the medical expenses for an injured animal.
  • $250 can provide a day’s worth of food for a stray Cows.

Spread the Word:

Share this campaign with your friends and family. The more people who know about it, the more animals we can help. As we celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi, let’s remember that true devotion to Lord Ganesha involves showing compassion to all living beings. By supporting this cause, you are not only helping animals in need but also embodying the true spirit of this sacred festival.
