Doon Animal Welfare is a dedicated organization committed to the care, protection, and welfare of cows. Established in 2016, our shelter provides a safe haven for over 2,000+ cows, ensuring they receive proper nutrition, medical care, and a loving environment. We also specialize in treating more than 200 injured or accidental cows each month, offering them the best possible chance for recovery and a better life. Our vision is to create a world where all cows are treated with respect, compassion, and dignity. We strive to be a model sanctuary that sets the standard for animal welfare, promoting a culture of kindness and empathy towards all living beings. Doon Animal Welfare is more than just a shelter—we are a community driven by a shared passion for animal welfare. We collaborate with local communities, volunteers, and other organizations to advocate for the humane treatment of cows and raise awareness about their needs.

In addition to caring for our resident cows, we specialize in rescuing and rehabilitating over 200 injured or accidental cows every month. Our veterinary team provides comprehensive medical care to help these animals recover and lead healthy lives.

Benefits of Godaan :
Godaan, or the act of Donating a cow, is a revered tradition in Hindu culture. This practice holds deep spiritual, social, and environmental significance. Let’s explore why Godaan is considered so important and the benefits it brings to individuals and the community. In Hinduism, cows are seen as sacred animals, symbolizing selfless giving and compassion. By donating a cow, individuals seek to gain spiritual merit and blessings. The cow, often referred to as “Kamadhenu” or the wish-fulfilling cow, is believed to bring prosperity, peace, and happiness to the donor’s life.
1. Attaining Moksha: Many Hindus believe that performing Godaan helps in achieving Moksha, or liberation from the cycle of birth and death. This act is seen as a way to cleanse one’s sins and attain a higher spiritual state.
2. Divine Blessings: Donating a cow is thought to please the gods, especially Lord Krishna, who is often depicted with cows. This brings divine blessings, ensuring the well-being and prosperity of the donor and their family.

Support Us To Promote Gauseva – Save Helpless Cows :

‘Doon Animal Welfare’ stands as one of Dehradun’s largest Gaushala for cows. Here, we provide protection, sustenance, and refuge to ailing, starving, destitute, and stray Desi Cows and Bulls, many of whom are abandoned by their caretakers or rescued from slaughterhouses. The majority of these bovine creatures are unable to produce milk. They arrive at our sanctuary after enduring harsh conditions. Our dedicated team of hundreds of volunteers, known as Gausewaks, tirelessly tend to these animals day and night. Under the stewardship of Milli Kaur, this gaushala operates without exploiting the cows for their milk, instead, we offer it freely to saints and Gausewak. Our journey began modestly in 2016 with just nine cows in Dehradun. Today, we provide shelter and sustenance to over 2000 cows, bulls, and dogs across various locations. This number continues to grow steadily as more stray cows and dogs, often abandoned by their owners, find their way to our gaushala every day.
