Donate To Animal Shelter
Cows are gentle, sacred creatures deeply woven into the cultural and spiritual fabric of India. Sadly, many of them face abandonment, starvation, and neglect. At Doon Animal Welfare, we have taken it upon ourselves to rescue, protect, and care for these innocent beings. With over 2,000 cows under our shelter, our mission is to provide them with a safe home, nutritious food, and medical care. But to continue this noble cause, we need your support.
1. A Sanctuary of Hope
Doon Animal Welfare Trust, established in 2016, began as a humble effort to save cows from the hardships of the streets. Starting with just nine cows, our gaushala (cow shelter) has grown into a haven for thousands of abandoned and injured cows in Dehradun. Our dedicated team of volunteers, known as Gausewaks, works tirelessly to ensure the wellbeing of these animals.
Many of the cows we rescue have suffered greatly. Some are victims of accidents, others are too old or ill to fend for themselves. These animals deserve love and care, not cruelty and abandonment. At our shelter, they find a peaceful environment where they can heal and live with dignity.
2. Why Your Help Matters
Running a gaushala of this scale is not easy. Every day, we strive to:
1. Feed thousands of cows: Nutritious meals are prepared to meet the dietary needs of these animals.
2. Provide medical care: Injured and sick cows receive treatment from our veterinary team. Over 200 cows are treated for injuries or illnesses each month.
3. Offer safe shelter: Many cows come to us from harsh conditions, and we ensure they live in a clean and secure environment.
The cost of food, medicines, and shelter maintenance is substantial, especially with the growing number of cows in need. While we are committed to this cause, we cannot do it alone.
3. How You Can Make a Difference
When you donate to our animal shelter, you become a part of this mission of compassion. Your contributions help us:
- Feed the hungry cows with quality fodder.
2. Buy medicines and medical supplies to treat injured and sick animals.
3. Build and maintain shelters to protect cows from harsh weather.
4. Rescue more cows in need and bring them to a safe environment.
Every donation, big or small, has the power to save lives and spread kindness.
4. A Unique Approach to Gauseva
At Doon Animal Welfare, we believe in selfless service to cows. Unlike commercial shelters, we do not exploit these animals for milk or other products. Instead, the milk produced by the cows is offered to saints and volunteers as prasad. This approach ensures that the cows are cared for purely out of compassion, without any expectation of gain.
5. Become a Part of the Movement
Helping cows is not just an act of kindness, it is also a deeply spiritual deed. In Hindu tradition, serving cows, or Gauseva, is considered a way to attain blessings and peace. When you donate to our shelter, you are contributing to a cause that uplifts both animals and society.
Your support helps us rescue cows from slaughterhouses, treat those injured in accidents, and provide a loving home for those abandoned due to age or illness. Together, we can ensure that these gentle souls live in safety and comfort.
6. How to Donate
Contributing to our mission is easy. Simply visit our Website to make your donation. You can choose to support specific needs such as food, medical supplies, or shelter construction.
Even a small donation can make a huge difference. For instance:
- ₹500 provides one day’s worth of fodder for a cow.
- ₹1,000 helps cover medical expenses for injured cows.
- ₹5,000 contributes towards building and maintaining shelters.
7. Join Us in Building a Better Future
Our vision is to create a world where all cows are treated with respect, compassion, and dignity. With your help, we can continue to rescue and care for thousands of cows, ensuring they live the lives they deserve.
By supporting Doon Animal Welfare, you are not just donating to an animal shelter, you are becoming part of a community dedicated to kindness and empathy. Let’s come together to make a difference in the lives of these sacred animals.
