Daan Utsav 2024

Daan Utsav, also known as the Joy of Giving Week, is celebrated across India as a festival of philanthropy. This year, as we come together for Daan Utsav 2024, we invite you to make a meaningful impact by supporting Doon Animal Welfare mission to save the abandoned and helpless cows from starvation and suffering.

The voiceless cows we care for have gone through unimaginable hardship and trauma, often left to fend for themselves in the harshest of conditions. Many of these gentle beings are injured, old, or abandoned, and they depend on us to provide them with food, shelter, and the love they deserve. Your support this Daan Utsav will help save them from hunger, illness, and a lonely end.

1. Save These Voiceless Animals

At Doon Animal Welfare, we believe that every cow deserves to be treated with love and respect. Cows are not just animals; they are symbols of life, nourishment, and selflessness. Sadly, many cows face cruelty and neglect every day. Some are abandoned on the streets with no food or medical care, while others are rescued from slaughterhouses, fighting for their lives. By joining hands with us, you can help give these voiceless animals a second chance at life.

2. A Commitment to Cow Protection

Doon Animal Welfare is fully dedicated to the care and protection of cows, which have always held a special place in our culture and tradition. Located in the tranquil environment of Uttarakhand, our gaushala is a safe haven for over 1800+ cows, including those that are injured, sick, or have been saved from butchers. We provide them with healthy food, medical care, and a place to live peacefully and with respect.

Our mission aligns with the age-old Indian tradition of Gosamrakshana (cow protection) and Goseva (cow service). In Hindu culture, cows symbolize gentleness, nourishment, and life-giving qualities. However, despite being sacred in our culture, countless cows suffer cruelty and neglect. Our gaushala offers hope to over 1400 cows that have been saved from slaughterhouses and severe abuse. Each cow at Doon Animal Welfare has its own story of hardship, and we are dedicated to helping them heal, recover, and live peacefully.

3. What We Do at Doon Animal Welfare

Our work focuses on creating a safe and caring space for cows while honoring their sacred role in our culture. We focus on rescuing and helping stray, sick, and abandoned cows by giving them food, shelter, and medical attention. Our efforts include:

  1. Daily Feeding: We ensure that 500 cows are fed every day, providing them with nutritious meals to keep them healthy and strong.
  2. Rescue Operations: We conduct active rescue operations for cows in need, whether they are abandoned, injured, or in danger of being slaughtered.
  3. Medical Care: Our team offers complete veterinary care to treat injuries, illnesses, and malnutrition, ensuring that every cow receives the best medical support possible.

4. Special Initiative During Daan Utsav 2024

This year, Doon Animal Welfare is launching a special initiative during Navratri as part of Daan Utsav to support the abandoned and injured cows. Your donations will directly contribute to:

👉 Rescuing and treating injured and sick cows.

👉 Providing healthy food and clean water to stray and malnourished cows.

👉 Creating safe and comfortable shelters for abandoned cows.

👉 Raising awareness about the humane treatment of cows and the importance of protecting these sacred beings.

Many calves are separated from their mothers just minutes after birth and left without proper care. These newborns, deprived of their mother’s milk, often struggle to survive. The ones that do are either exploited for milk production or sold to slaughterhouses. These calves are not even allowed to experience the warmth and love of their mothers. Cows are deeply emotional creatures with strong maternal instincts and family bonds, but the dairy industry often denies them these natural connections.

The grief of being separated from their calves causes many cows to die of heartbreak. Instead of drinking their mother’s milk, the calves are fed commercially produced milk, while the milk meant for them is sent across the world, depriving them of their rightful nourishment. The cycle of cruelty and neglect is heartbreaking, but together, we can put an end to this suffering.
