Doon Animal Welfare Trust operates one of Dehradun’s largest gaushala, providing refuge and care to sick, starving, and abandoned cows and bulls. Many of these cows have been left behind by their owners or rescued from slaughterhouses. Since most of them are unable to produce milk, they are often neglected and left to fend for themselves. Our gaushala takes them in and offers them a loving and secure environment.

Our team of dedicated Gausewaks works tirelessly, day and night, to ensure that these gentle animals receive proper nourishment and medical care. Under the leadership of Milli Kaur, our gaushala does not exploit cows for their milk. Instead, any milk produced is freely given to saints and Gausewaks who serve in the shelter. This initiative has grown from humble beginnings in 2016, when we started with just nine cows, to a full-fledged sanctuary providing shelter and sustenance to over 2,000 cows and bulls.
